Free Satellite and Web Cast Program Highlighting Agriculture and Food Vulnerability Assessment Training

Sharon Thompson, Director of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicines Center for Agricultural and Food Security and Preparedness (CAFSP) and Ray Burden, UT Extension County Agent and Director for Hamilton County are among the featured panelists on Live Response, an award-winning educational/informational program produced by the National Terrorism Prevention Institute.   Live Response is a 60-minute satellite television broadcast and web cast featuring dynamic panel discussions with leading experts who share their knowledge and experiences about terrorism awareness, prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.

The featured segment, which will air Wednesday, May 28, 2008 from 2:00 3:00 p.m., focuses on the agriculture and food sectors and how they could potentially be affected by terrorism. The segment highlights MGT 332: Agriculture and Food Vulnerability Assessment Training, a Department of Homeland Security certified training course developed by the CAFSP. The overall course goal is to assist communities and industry to prevent and deter criminal and terrorist acts that target the agriculture and food sectors. As of May 2008, CAFSP has delivered MGT 332 to 1050 participants, residing in 41 states. Visit www.vet.utk.edu/cafsp for more information on MGT 332.

            *Emergency management
            *Extension and crop specialists

Website Registration: Live Response is available via C band and DOD/DETN satellites, private network carriers and the Internet.  All viewers and/or receiving sites are encouraged to register for  programming at http://terrorism.spcollege.edu. Satellite coordinates and Internet links will be provided to all registering parties. This program will also be archived for viewing on the NTPI website if you are unable to tie in during the live broadcast timeframe.
